Gift of Words a standout for Splosh at AGHA Melbourne Gift Fair
EDITORIAL FROM GIFT GUIDE ONLINE:
Known for its inspirational quotes, it is no surprise that the Gift of Words collection did so well for Splosh at the recent Melbourne Gift Fair.
“We have absolutely hit the mark with this, it is so on trend at the moment,” says Splosh’s Miranda Priestley.
“There is a verse in this range for everyone, they are all hand drawn and hand designed. What we love is that everything we have is designed in Australia for Australians and New Zealanders.”
Splosh, which introduces new collections every six weeks, is a family-run business which was started in 1999 when founders Michael and Kim Kendall started crafting handmade timber gifts and selling them at the local Brisbane markets.
That’s how the company’s Signature Frames were born, which are still part of its lineup today and were on display at the show as was a full line of Woodwick, which has definitely been a drawcard for the company, and a new homewares range called Desert Dunes.
Exhibiting at the Melbourne Gift Fair for the first time, the company brought 17 of its staff to the show to bring a lot of positive energy to the stand.
We have had a ball, it has been so exciting. Everyone was just so ready to come together like this.
We wanted to be here for all our customers and the response has been incredible. Everyone wants to see everything live and I think that has been the big differentiator.
“We do actually go out and see our customers all the time, but the difference is when they can see all the products. It’s very different to see one sample in comparison to seeing everything.
“One of the other really exciting things is because we haven’t seen anyone for two years we picked up a lot of new customers, which I think is key. Of course existing customers know us, we are always out and about with them, but the big differentiator has been all the new customers that haven’t seen our products,” she adds.
We had a lot of people come through on Saturday and that usually is our biggest day, but we actually did bigger numbers on Sunday.
My favourite day has actually been today, when we had more time to meet some of our bigger group customers. The energy has been really high because it hasn’t been as hectic as the other days, but all in all, every day has been a good day.”
