Toni Casserly of Radiant Imports describes the new range of natural wood furniture.
AGHA Sydney Gift Fair exhibitor Radiant Imports will kick off the 2018 retail season with a new display of two unique Monkey Pod and Recycled Teak furniture ranges.
For hundreds of years, teak and monkey pod have been favoured wood materials for both long-term durability and natural look, making it an appealing choice for designers and interior decorators.
Encompassing a variety of rustic tables, benches and seats, each item has been carefully crafted from the remnants of Indonesian fishing boats, allowing businesses to source affordable and environmentally-friendly homewares.
“Monkey Pod wood, also known as Parota, is an exotic hardwood used in South East Asian countries. Its appearance and markings vary from piece to piece, with beautiful patterns occurring naturally through the grain of the wood,” proprietor Toni Casserly told the Australian Gift & Homewares Association (AGHA).
Radiant Imports has exhibited at AGHA Gift Fairs for over 35 years, offering a variety of natural home living accessories, storage solutions, table settings and home decor products that are sourced first-hand from the Philippines, Indonesia and China.
“Radiant Imports will be turning 40 next year. One of the owners was among the first group of business people to go to China for the Guangzhou Trade Fair in 1972 and six years later, he started Radiant Imports, with China as one of its key trading partners,” Casserly said.
“We love having the opportunity to catch up with customers, especially those from interstate and rural areas that can’t always make the trip to our showroom, meeting new people, and seeing how we can help meet their needs,” she added.
According to Casserly, huge demand and interest from local customers in the two ranges has meant that the selection and styles will continue to be extended.
“We have been unable to keep up with orders and are doing our best to increase our supply from Indonesia to fill the orders we have, as they just keep coming!”
