What new and exciting ranges are you launching at the AGHA Melbourne Gift Fair?
We will be launching our (yet to be released) AW18 capsule collection. We will also be showcasing SS17/18 which is ready for sale and distribution from September 1st.
What is the inspiration behind your product ranges?
We have used tropical prints which have been designed exclusively for us, along with our monochrome favourites. We use luxe fabrications and edgy twists on current and classic trends.
What is your point of difference?
We design our fashion in Adelaide and we pay close attention to detail. We have special relationships with our retailers and pride ourselves on being a ‘perfect fit’ for our target market. We are well priced for our consumers and also offer excellent margins for our retailers.
What is the story behind your brand?
‘Astor’ is after lady Astor, who was the first elected female PM in England. Prior to public office, she was in the ‘rag trade’ working with silks and furs. A trailblazer and a feminist figure of her time! The ‘Tyne’ comes from the affectionate nick name which Melanie (half of our partnership) was called by her favourite grandfather. He never used any other name and this is of special significance to her as he would have been exceedingly proud of her business success.
We (Nicola and Melanie) are passionate women who balance busy lives and motherhood with our love of fashion and design. We are a two-woman team and manage everything from sketching and design of garments, to marketing and logistics. All of the products in our collections are meticulously created, edited and overseen by the two of us. Whilst final production occurs off shore, we are very much in the drivers’ seat throughout the entire process. Luxe and love encompass all that we do.
