Make the switch from plastic with Authentic African shopping bags.
AGHA Sydney Gift Fair exhibitor Inside Africa is encouraging its consumers to say no to plastic bags, with authentic African shopping baskets that feature sustainable and biodegradable materials.
Inside Africa will display the current product range and introduce two exciting new styles at Sydney Showground in February.
Styles to expect include a beautiful vegan basket without a leather handle and brand-new baskets utilising natural elephant grass.
Based in Byron Bay, the business has a deep connection with West Africa that started with a farm in Ghana more than 30 years ago. Trading began with one bag of elephant grass hats in 1984, a popular product which is still on offer to customers today.
“Inside Africa is a testament to the old African proverb a good thing sells itself. Africa is a vast continent with an immense diversity of traditions,” founder Jason Burns told the Australian Gift & Homewares Association (AGHA).
“We are proud to play a small part in keeping these traditional skills alive while contributing back to the communities we work with,” he said.
Retail buyers attending Sydney Gift Fair can also anticipate finding a range of genuine African apparel, bags, jewellery, furniture, homewares, instruments and collectables, with something to suit almost every gifting occasion.
“We supply a variety of stockists, including everything from boutique retail outlets to health stores, pharmacies and homewares stores. The organic nature and neutral aesthetics of our baskets, textiles and artefacts fit easily into vast array of retail concepts,” Burns said.
“While we are constantly adding new styles, part of our focus recently has been on educating stockists and their customers about plastic bag use and its effect on the environment. They also are very beautiful and have an abundance of practical uses.”
Reflecting on the business benefits of exhibiting at Sydney Gift Fair, Burns explained that this trade-facing event allows Inside Africa to enjoy a massive promotional platform, along with exciting opportunities to share its story and to acquire customers.
“AGHA Gift Fairs are an important part of connecting with our stockists, new and old,” he said.
“We are always learning from our stockists and in turn we encourage them to say no to plastic bags. Our authentic African shopping baskets are perfectly made using traditional artisan skills. And who can stop at just one!”
